The story so far

Ray Shuell was born in Manchester UK and had an interest in art from a very early age, selling his first painting to the milkman for a bottle of orange juice! He studied Graphic Design at Salford and since then has painted mainly in watercolour with the odd oil painting thrown in. The earlier years saw him helping to run an art gallery in Manchester where he became involved in the growing Manchester art scene. His work has been seen in many mixed exhibitions as well as a number of one-man shows in the North West of England, Salford and London.

In 1980 he formed his own design business specializing in the decorative elements required for commercial properties such as restaurants and bars before moving to Burton upon Trent to become a lecturer in fine art and history of art at Burton College in Staffordshire.

By 2007, his love of teaching inspired him to move to France with his wife and cats to set up his own Art school in the sun, where he taught people of all ages how to create their own paintings, inspiring creativity in others. He is now back in the UK, continuing to produce the kind of work he has become well known for.
